Uses and Eligibility

Who is eligible?

Eligible borrowers located in the five (5) Greater Philadelphia PA Counties (Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Chester and Delaware) include:

  • commercial
  • nonprofit
  • government
  • multifamily residential
  • industrial entities

To qualify for an EnergyWorks building energy loan, the project must result in a 25% reduction in energy consumption.

What can you finance?

EnergyWorks offers construction loans, term loans and lease financing to support:

  • Energy efficient building retrofits in existing occupied buildings
  • Energy efficient machinery and equipment
  • Energy efficient building practices in gut rehab projects
  • Building-sited renewable energy systems and combined-heat-and-power systems that are part of a larger energy efficiency project

Examples of specific projects include:

  • Building envelope improvements (air sealing, insulation, reflective roof, high-performance windows and exterior doors)
  • Efficient heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems
  • Lighting
  • Daylighting (using natural light)
  • Water efficiency (low-flow fixtures, domestic hot water heating systems, storm water retention - ONLY if the storm water is used on site to reduce water consumption)
  • ENERGY STAR® appliances and measures
  • Other energy technologies such as solar photovoltaic systems, solar hot water, geothermal, heat recovery systems and combined heat-and-power systems.
